The National Student Research Group (NSRG) with the backing of the AADOCR Board launched this new new AADOCR student presentation competition for the 2025 AADOCR/CADR Annual Meeting in New York.
The Rising Researcher Poster Competition is aimed at pre-dental students prior to enrollment in a graduate or professional program. NSRG leadership noticed that a myriad awards existed for professional (e.g. dental) students and graduate students, however, these awards are perceived as having high barriers to entry for very early career researchers. There are no existing awards advertised exclusively for predental students prior to enrollment in a graduate or professional program.
Competitions for predental students - likely attending their first conference - should have as low of a barrier to entry as possible to incrementally build confidence and community. Thus the Rising Research Poster Competition was born.
