Reasons for Running
My experience in the Student Research Group at OHSU has shown me how important it is for dental students to have accessible pathways into research. Being involved in SRG leadership has allowed me to see how much more students would benefit if given clear opportunities, good mentorship, and a community that encourages research. After serving at the school level, I want to contribute to that same environment on a national scale.
I’m running for an NSRG position because I believe I can help strengthen communication between chapters, support new students entering research for the first time, and contribute to initiatives that make research feel less intimidating and more achievable for everyone. Through roles such as being Class Vice President and SRG President, I’ve learned how to organize teams, listen to student concerns, and follow through on projects that help the broader student body.
What motivates me most is the idea of helping students recognize research as a valuable tool that can shape their career paths, rather than just an added responsibility. NSRG has the reach to influence students nationwide, and I want to help continue that work by supporting collaboration, mentorship, and leadership development across all chapters.
