AADOCR Announces Recipients of the 2023 IADR/AADOCR William J. Gies Awards

Alexandria, VA, USA – The American Association for Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) has announced the 2023 recipients of the IADR/AADOCR William J. Gies Awards for the best papers published in the IADR/AADOCR Journal of Dental Research. The winners were recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 52nd Annual Meeting of the AADOCR, held in conjunction with the 47th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research (CADR), that took place on March 15, 2023.              Williams J Gies

The award in Clinical Research was presented to P.Y.F. Wen, M.X. Chen, Y.J. Zhong, Q.Q. Dong, and H.M. Wong for their paper, “Global burden and inequality of dental caries, 1990-2019,” J Dent Res 101(4):392-399, 2022.

The award in Biomaterials & Bioengineering was presented to B. Chang, C. Ma, J. Feng, K.K.H. Svoboda, and X. Liu for their paper, “Dental Pulp Stem Cell Polarization: Effects of Biophysical Factors,” J Dent Res 100(10):1153-1160, 2021.

The award is named for William J. Gies, the founder of the Journal of Dental Research. It is supported by J. Morita Corporation and consists of a US$1,000 prize and a commemorative plaque.
