Alexandria, VA – The American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research has named Jay Patel as the recipient of the 2025 AADOCR William B. Clark Fellowship. Patel, from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 54th Annual Meeting of the AADOCR, which was held in conjunction with the 49th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research, on March 12-15, 2025 in New York, NY.
Patel’s research, which focuses on integrating AI into oral health care, holds the potential to transform the way we predict, prevent, and manage oral diseases. His work thus far has demonstrated a unique ability to bridge the gap between data science and clinical application, a skill that is critical for the development of effective clinical decision support systems (CDSS). His innovative approach to reducing oral health disparities, developing risk prediction models, and improving overall health outcomes are innovative and impressive. Patel is an alum of the AADOCR MIND the Future program. As a recipient of prestigious awards, including the NIH K08 Clinician Scientist Career Development Award and recognition from leading dental and informatics organizations, Patel has already demonstrated his dedication to advancing the field.
The AADOCR William B. Clark Fellowship was established to support clinical researchers in periodontology. The $5,000 fellowship is in memory of the late William B. Clark, Professor of Oral Biology and Director of the Periodontal Research Center at the University of Florida, and is supported by P&G Professional Oral Health, Crest + Oral-B.
