Nini Tran Named 2022 Recipient of AADOCR Anne D. Haffajee Fellowship

Alexandria, VA – The American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) announced Nini Tran, University of California, Los Angeles, as the 2022 recipient of the AADOCR Anne D. Haffajee Fellowship. Tran was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the hybrid 51st Annual Meeting of the AADOCR, held in conjunction with the 46th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research (CADR), on March 23, 2022.

Tran is an Assistant Professor in the section of pediatric dentistry at the University of California, Los Angeles. She received her D.D.S. and Ph.D. in Oral Biology from UCLA School of Dentistry and received her residency certificate in Pediatric Dentistry at UCLA School of Dentistry. Tran is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and an advocate for children.

As a dual-trained academic pediatric dentist her goal is to provide comprehensive oral care for her pediatric patients from the best available scientific evidence and to educate future generations of dentists and scientists by connecting translational sciences and clinical practice. Tran provides dental education at both predoctoral and postdoctoral levels. She has been an AADOCR member since 2014.

This Fellowship was created in recognition of Anne Haffajee’s many contributions to clinical research in periodontology and oral biology and her prominence as a female scientist and role model in the field. The immediate goal of this fellowship is to support women researchers at the early stages of their scientific careers. The long-term objective of this fellowship is to increase the representation of women at the higher ranks in science and academia in the field of oral biology. The $10,000 Fellowship is supported by generous donations from individuals and companies who created the endowment.
