Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill

On April 11, 2024, AADOCR, along with the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and the Friends of National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (FNIDCR) joined forces for the 2024 Advocacy Day, an annual event that brings together dental researchers, scientists, educators, students, and other oral health advocates to Capitol Hill to raise the visibility of oral health and champion NIDCR-funded research.

This year’s event attracted about 60 participants from 20 different states who traveled to Washington, D.C. to spend the day meeting with their elected officials and other influential policymakers on Capitol Hill. The advocates urged Congress to provide at least $559 million for the NIDCR and $46 million for Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Title VII Oral Health Training Programs in Fiscal Year 2025, among other funding requests. They also requested support for the Action for Dental Health Act (S. 2891) and a House Resolution (H.Res.1078) commemorating NIDCR’s 75th anniversary.

On April 10, AADOCR and ADEA hosted a legislative briefing that featured remarks from senior federal agency officials about the Biden Administration’s oral health equity agenda and research training opportunities at NIDCR and HRSA.

Registration for Advocacy Day 2025 opens December 2024
