AADOCR NSRG - Secretary Candidate
Reasons for Running:
My name is Nam Nguyen, and I am excited to be running for the AADOCR NRSG Secretary position. I duly understand that this position comes with important responsibilities and skills that I have been fortunate to hone through my research involvement and leadership experiences. Since starting at the UCSF School of Dentistry, I have got the opportunity to participate in the John C. Greene Research Honor Society as the class representative and a predoctoral research fellow. Utilizing my experience as a public school teacher, I serve as the Director of Classroom and Oral Health Education Partnership - an organization dedicated to the mission of providing
standards-aligned/ inquiry-based science lessons from a dental clinician's perspective to underserved public schools classrooms.
My research mentors in the School of Dentistry and Correlative Microscopy Core have provided healthy guidance and challenged me intellectually and professionally in the past two years. Being a first-generation US college student, I got to experience firsthand the value of a support network that nurtures curiosity and research involvement. I am running to further foster a supportive network of student researchers and mentors on a national level and promote the implementation of evidence-based dentistry within the clinic and the classroom.
